Amsterdam and the Restoration of Wetlands

The economic capital of the Netherlands has long been a global model for flood management and is now looking to innovate on how it conserves wetlands. In order to restore the marshes and pastures while maintaining its agricultural capacity, the Amsterdam Wetlands project will invest $ 9 million in experiments. The program, a collaboration between three nature conservation agencies, is intended to incorporate more water into low-lying areas instead of damming and pumping them.
