Summary: Based on a comparative approach of the socio-environmental contrasts between Argentina and Canada, the issues of water governance in the provinces of Chubut and Quebec will be addressed. The presentation will focus on the legal status of water in these territories, federal-provincial relations and the challenges of democratic water management in the two federations in order to identify reciprocal institutional learning to address the constraints of global environmental change in the Americas.
