Municipalities Forum : Sludge Management and Recovery

Municipalities and researchers in Quebec: Let's work together to improve water management in Quebec!

Moderator: Simon Barnabé, Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and Victoriaville Municipal Research Chair for Sustainable Cities

Target audience: This meeting is intended for anyone in your municipality involved in sludge management, both technical staff and decision makers, as well as university and college researchers.

A recent report by the Auditor General confirms that water management in Quebec is still deficient, and we see this as confirmation that more links need to be built between the research community and research-users. The Municipalities Forum on Water Research Needs surveys municipalities on their concrete research needs in the area of water management. CentrEau, Quebec's strategic water management research cluster, is inviting municipalities to come together to explain their real research needs.

This Municipalities Forum will allow you to:

  • Express your needs and interests in research related to the management and reclamation of sludge produced during water treatment.

  • Identify relevant collaborators to work on solutions to issues related to this theme, both in the scientific and municipal communities.

  • Share and increase your knowledge of municipal sludge management and reuse.

On the agenda:

  • Presentations by researchers specialized in sludge management and reclamation: Alexandra Tsitouras (McGill University); Céline Vaneeckhaute (Laval University); Hubert Cabana (Sherbrooke University).
  • Small group discussions, pairing municipalities and researchers, to share issues and explore the possibility of addressing them through a research project.

  • Plenary with all participants to share highlights of the small group discussions and conclude on actions for the future.

Don't miss this event dedicated to the management and recovery of your municipal sludge!
