GLOBAL WARMING AND CANADIAN LAKES

16 August 2022

The consequences of global warming and violent winds do not spare the world's lakes in general and those of Canada in particular. The latter are heating up twice as fast as the former. This is the general information to be retained from the results of research on the impact of climate change on the world's lakes.

What could be the consequences of this?

First of all, this warming favors the proliferation of toxic algae that pollute the water of these lakes. In this situation, the first victims are the indigenous populations and the poor who consume these waters, because they lack the means to access clean running water.

In a second time, the migration of aquatic species used to warm waters will force the cold water species to go elsewhere. More details on the lenouvelliste website.
