Quebec regulates the use of drinking water

12 June 2022

Regulatory changes on the external use of drinking water have been made in Quebec City. This new regulation, which came into effect on June 9, 2022, aims to raise awareness among citizens about good practices for saving water. In this regard, Marie-Josée Asselin, vice-president of the executive committee responsible for the environment, reminded us that "during the summer, water consumption soars due to non-essential uses and that drinking water treatment plants sometimes reach maximum production capacity. It is important that everyone participate in saving and protecting drinking water to ensure its sustainability"

To accompany the citizens of this new regulation, the government has set up two services:
A mobile brigade that educates citizens on compliance with this new regulation.
An online service InfoEau that informs citizens of the best times to use drinking water outdoors.
