Sutton could be lacking drinking water

06 April 2022

The lack of drinking water in Sutton is forcing the Eastern Townships municipality to slow down its real estate development.

Currently, the town is supplied with drinking water in two ways: on the one hand, by surface water from Spruce, Vogel and Mud lakes (mountain sector) and on the other, by the Academy well (town sector).

Residents in the Mountain area are putting a lot of pressure on the water resource, to the point where it is not possible to add housing in this area.

The solution of a connection between the two sources is not sufficient. Instead, an expert report recommends that the City plan to dig a new well in parallel with the existing one.
