The coasts of the St. Lawrence River threatened by erosion

The coastal erosion of the St. Lawrence River has negative consequences on the well-being of citizens, infrastructure and the economy. This degradation can cause not only flooding, but also the destruction of the ecosystem.

Sustainable solutions that adapt to climate change, as called for in the latest report of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), are needed to address these threats.

In this regard, coastal engineering professors are working "with communities, businesses, and nonprofit organizations to better understand how natural systems can be used to protect coasts from erosion and flooding". For more information, visit The Conversation webiste »
