Our regular researcher member Dominique Claveau-Mallet and our former student member Mohammed Abourich highlight the importance of citizen participation in order to allow the capture of microplastics directly in the filters of private washers.
This initiative would divert 16 grams of plastic per year from the city of Montreal's wastewater, which is "equivalent to the weight of a 500 ml bottle".
