Water is becoming increasingly scarce in some areas affected by droughts. The resource must therefore be managed strictly, which can cause certain conflicts of use.
In California, for example, water is first allocated to the basic needs of inhabitants. Due to the decrease of this resource, it was not possible this winter to allocate water to other uses such as agriculture. In addition, with the growth of the energy transition, the demand for water will increase even more.
Whatever solutions are considered to the water shortages, the cost will be high. The resource is not valued at its fair value: The countries that consume the most are often those that pay the least. The price of water is therefore set to increase.
