Indeed, the province of Quebec is directing their efforts towards voluntary monitoring of blue-green algae and eutrophication. Overall, the situation is not so bad: Quebec lakes are doing quite well, according to the latest 2020 report.
However, is it the same three years later? Several questions must be raised: What are the biggest threats? Wastewater, land use planning, road salts, soil permeation? Is there sufficient monitoring by the authorities? How is the health of our lakes monitored?
