The Quebec government is investing $40 million to protect Lake St. Charles. The City of Quebec, Lac-Delage and the municipality of Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury will add another $20 million to this amount.
To preserve the lake, municipalities will require that septic systems 30 years of age and older within the watershed be replaced as they are more polluting and discharge many contaminants.
