Chemical pollutants that last forever?

A recent study published in the journal Environmental Science & Technology Letters reveals that more than 57,000 sites in the United States are believed to be contaminated with forever chemicals. 

Contaminated areas may have been in contact with airport fire department foam or industrial products containing traces of carcinogenic chemicals. 

These perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have a long residence time in the human body and in the environment. 

They can cause diseases such as testicular cancer, thyroid disease and kidney cancer.
