Contamination of rainwater by chemicals

15 August 2022

The journal Environmental Science and Technology published the results of a research on the quality of rainwater in the context of environmental pollution.

In this study based on data compiled since 2010, conducted by scientists, it is revealed that rainwater is unfit for consumption worldwide.

This situation is due to the pollution of the environment by chemical elements present in packaging, shampoos or makeup.

These "eternal chemicals" as they are called have irreversibly contaminated the planet and the consumption of rainwater is now a real danger for the health of the populations.

The situation is not very alarming, but needs to be monitored to prevent the curve of this contamination from continuing to rise, according to Ian Cousins, professor at Stockholm University and the main leader of this research. More details on lapresse website
