With Rebecca L. White, Ph.D., Senior Advisor, Algae Biomass Organization

Summary: In the current economic situation, the growing population, food security and autonomy, local production, etc. concern us and the agricultural community is called upon more than ever to provide for the needs of our society. Emerging cultures arrive in support. Among these, there would be the production of beneficial microalgae in a circular economy context. In addition to growing in cheap nutrients such as agricultural or food wastewater, some microalgae produce proteins, lipids or other products intended for human or animal consumption or for other local uses. In fact, some foresee the emergence of “algal farms”. Would they have their place in sustainable and circular agriculture? A pioneer of the algal farm concept, from a large farming family in the United States, will discuss the subject with experts during this first webinar organized as part of the Victoriaville innovation zone project.

Note that the webinar will be conducted primarily in English. It is open to all.
