Summary: Between 2009 and 2021, the Ministry of the Environment (MELCC) has funded, through the PACES program, the realization of groundwater knowledge acquisition projects to obtain a portrait of this resource across the municipalized territories of southern Quebec. In parallel to PACES projects, efforts have been made by the Quebec Groundwater Network (RQES) to promote the transfer of scientific knowledge to regional water stakeholders. However, even today, few MRCs and watershed organizations (OBV) have integrated groundwater into their management or planning plans. The research discussed here suggests that the lack of knowledge appropriation by water stakeholders is an important missing piece of the puzzle.

Renaud Delisle and Jimmy Mayrand, master's students under the supervision of professors Roxane Lavoie (UL) and René Lefebvre (INRS), will share the results of their research on the accompaniment of water stakeholders in the Eastern Townships so that they can integrate PACES knowledge into their planning documents.

First, they will discuss the development of an approach to involve water stakeholders in the development of a groundwater action plan at the watershed level, followed by the support of MRCs for the integration of groundwater knowledge in their development plans. Finally, the speakers will share lessons learned and recommendations for achieving truly integrated groundwater management.

New series of weekly CentrEau webinars "all about water management". These short 20-minute presentations will be offered live every Thursday at 1 p.m. followed by a short discussion period. CentrEau professors and researchers, as well as guest speakers, will present their research work and its importance in a semi-popularized manner. Watch the previous webinars on our YouTube Channel.
