Water Day: Research serving the municipal and private sector

In an effort to democratize knowledge, CentrEau, the Quebec Water Management Research Centre, is organizing a one-day event on May 4, 2023 at Cégep Saint-Laurent (Building F - Personnel Room next to the cafeteria)

Objectives:

  • Build relationships between the municipal, private and academic sectors to develop innovative solutions to current problems related to water management and governance.
  • Promote the next generation of scientists by showcasing their research.
  • Made known the funding available for collaborative projects.

Roundtables: discussions on possible solutions to challenges experienced by participants from the municipal and private sectors. Participants will be assigned one of these tables:

  1. Elements to consider when choosing a sludge treatment system

  2. Aerated lagoons: best practices for their operation and future prospects
    Moderator: Yves Comeau, Polytechnique Montréal
  3. Stormwater management: establishing a picture of the territory

  4. Innovative solutions for overflow management
    Moderator: Geneviève Pelletier, Université Laval
  5. Avenues to explore to achieve major savings in drinking water - small and medium-sized municipalities

Scientific Poster Competition:

Student members of CentrEau presented their research in this scientific poster competition. Event participants were invited to discover these projects and vote for their favorite poster. Prizes in the form of bursaries were awarded to three students. Students presenting a poster followed the Guide for the Scientific Poster Competition.

  • By metro: 5 min. walk from the college station (exit at rue du collège)
  • By car, there are paid parking lots ($), but please note that spaces are limited:
    • CEGEP parking lot
    • Municipal parking (at 830 Ouimet Street)
    • parking at Vanier College

For students presenting a poster and CentrEau student members who are located outside of Montreal, transportation will be arranged (and made available to other participants if space is available!).
